My husband B and I were both off of work today, so we got to spend all day with our son! B and H went to the playground for a little bit, while I flea treated the house and all the animals. Other than that, we were all together and playing for most of the day. I made a fantastic dinner, too! Crockpot roasted chicken topped with bacon and provolone spaghetti sauce, to be served over spaghetti squash. YUM!
No matter what I did today, I was looking forward to my walk with J tonight. I got to her office about 20 minutes early and did my stretching and walking warm-up, in my favored Skora’s, in the parking lot. Not too shabby! Walked a half mile in 8 minutes! And then, I had to do the sad switch…Skora’s come off, Asics come on.
J came out, looking adorable (0f course), we set our phones up with our GPS programs, and then we started out. She told me which route we were taking (who doesn’t love a varied route!?), and we started doing the urban traffic dodge. J is quite loquacious, as am I, so subject matter for discussion is never a problem. We talked, and talked, and talked, right up until I thought I was going to stop breathing. At that point, we slowed the chatter, though we still talked long-term goals. We discussed my transition to Skora’s, and how it’s going, and then we made a decision about a goal. Or rather, J told me she’s signing me up for a half-marathon in October. Um…gulp?
Anyway, we talked and walked our way through a 5k!! We averaged 17-minute miles, which wasn’t too bad, and my foot is still feeling okay! We stretched and talked more, then we took a selfie and got out of the heat and humidity and in to our respective cars. So now, thanks to J paying a race fee for me, I have to figure out how train for a 13.1 mile run while transitioning to my Skora’s without any sort of injury. May need a little help from Skora convert pals!
