Hi!! I go by Grit Girl, as I was thus named by my husband’s niece several years ago, when she couldn’t remember my name. “Grit” is a contraction, and it suits me just fine; as being a person full of grit and determination is a fine compliment. To quote John Ortberg, “Over time, grit is what separates fruitful lives from aimlessness.” Or, as Robert Service (aka The Bard of The Yukon) writes, “It’s the plugging away that will win you the day, So don’t be a piker, old pard! Just draw on your grit, it’s so easy to quit. It’s the keeping-your chin-up that’s hard.”
Yes, yes, I like quotes and references.
Okay, regarding the title of my blog: I am chubby. There’s no other way to put it, I’m sorry. I’m 5’6″ and over 200 pounds. A while back, I posted a blog on Runner’s World entitled “Running Fat,” about what it is like to be a runner who is chubby. People stare, honk, point and laugh (not kidding!), but I am who I am. So I am also constantly attempting to lose weight, get healthier, and I am constantly getting in my own way. To add (heh heh) fat to the fire, I am Mommy to a six month old. So I have little to no time to myself, I often opt for convenience foods, and exercising can be difficult. So y’all are reading about my attempt to make time for myself, so I have can hopefully have more time and energy for my son. Wish me luck, pray for me, yell at me when I don’t do well, whatever you may think is prevalent to the situation.
